I worked all day on Sunday to get my goals together for the next two weeks. Goals including fitness and a massive to do list in general. I thought that I would be psyched to kick off this week with a fresh workout effort. The decision to start tracking and improving my eating may seem drastic, but this is about changing my body and the way it has been set up for the last 5 or 8 years. So anyway, there was a huge temptation to not get out the door and get my ass to the gym. I overcame that problem by forcing myself to pack a fresh gym bag.Today was chest and back:Bench press: 4 sets up to 155 Decline Bench: 5 sets at 135 Overhead ISO rows: 5 sets at 135 Seated ISO Hammer rows: 4 sets at 180Shoulder press machine: 3 sets Incline ISO machine: 4 sets10 minute cardio (I know I cut it short).I’d like to tune up the cardio, and not have Monday workouts be such a huge obstacle.

So today was a medium intensity Legs day. I stepped up the weight and number of sets that I was doing for legs last week. More importantly, today was the finish of a minor goal achieved, that is, 2 perfect weeks of gym attendance. This means that I can start to look forward to the next two weeks. Remember, I have committed to a full 12 week program that I am making up as I go along, and I’m determined to get ripped just by sticking to it, and throwing out what doesn’t work. I have to give my long distance Coach/trainer Issac a call and report my progress. The weekend I’ll plan my next two weeks of workouts and nutrution, and I’ll post them here when I’m done.

Another Wednesday means another intense visit to the Andre Aggassi Super Sport 24 Hour Fitness in Laguna Niguel. This time it was all about Biceps, Triceps, Shoulders and Cardio. I actually lost track of all of the exercises that I did, which is a perfect reason to bring a notepad to write them all down. Great workout technique: Bring a small notepad to the gym to record your number of sets, amount of weight, and the machines that you use. I do know this, I spend 40 straight minutes just lifting, which was most likely some sort of record for me. Since I was lifting solo, I was able to do twice the amount of work with half the rest. With workouts like that, who needs a partner? I’ll stay solo thanks. After I had at least 3-4 exercises on each muscle group mentioned above, I transitioned to cardio. I jumped on the elicptical machine for 35 minutes, I was sweating hard and my face was fully flushed when I finished. I looked splotchy. Altogether, this makes big wednesday a 75 minute workout.

Today I went to the new Andre Aggassi Super Sport 24 Hour Fitness. This gym is the shiznit. All of the equipment is clean. The locker rooms are pristine. They provide towels. It is like the difference between being in a High School gym and going to the Pros. This time it was a solid hour from the time I started my first set until the time I finished the cardio and went back into the locker room. Today was 40 minutes of solid lifting and 20 minutes of cardio. These cardio machines have TVs built into them, so there is really no excuse not to put in quality time into the stair stepping. Exercises: Bench Press: 4 Sets ISO Pulldown Rows: 4 Sets Incline Bench: 4 Sets Seated ISO Hammer Rows: 4 Sets Shoulder Flys: 4 Sets Tricep Extensions: 4 Sets Laying Dumbbell Tricep Extensions: 4 Sets Eliptical Trainer With ESPN: 20 Minutes

A workout for legs is usually the most intense day, that makes me wonder why I picked Friday to do it. I’m going surfing tomorrow, hopefully my legs won’t be jello when I stand on my board. Leg press 4 Hamstring curls 4 Leg extensions 4 Standing calf raises 3 15 minute treadmill 25 minute weights Body weight going to bed: 215 lbs I also ate a strictly vegetable lunch with a protein shake. For breakfast I ate oatmeal with vanilla protein mixed in, blah.

Well, I forgot my shirt, so I went all the way to the gym, but when it came time to change, I had a setback. This just reminds me to be really diligent about packing my gear and preparing the night before. While I was in the locker room, rooting around for a shirt that I didn’t bring, I overheard two of the regulars. “It’s the 80/20 rule bro, and most people will never realize that. It’s 80 percent nutrition, and 20 percent workout. Although I couldn’t workout when I didn’t have my gear together, I was determined not to let that set me back. Instead I went at 8:30 and found the 24 hour fitness to be very uncrowded. Iso Hammer Forward Lat Pull: 3 Iso Lat Pulldown: 3 Lowerback extensions: 4 Bench Press: 3 High to low wood chops: 3 per side Treadmill walk 4.0 or better 10 minutes Total Workout Time: 40 minutes
